Watson Gym Equipment is a highly successful gym equipment manufacturer established in 1999 that continues to grow year after year. We design and manufacture premium strength equipment for commercial gyms, elite sports facilities and private clients, exporting worldwide.
As part of our continued expansion, we're looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking Powder Coating Operative to join our manufacturing team at our headquarters in Frome.
The Role
Working within our busy powder coating department, you'll play a vital role in ensuring every piece of Watson equipment receives the high-quality finish our brand is known for.
This is a physically demanding, hands-on role involving the preparation, handling and powder coating of a wide range of gym equipment components. Attention to detail and pride in your work are essential, as the quality of our finish is one of the things that sets Watson apart.
While previous powder coating experience is highly desirable, full training will be provided for candidates with the right attitude, work ethic and willingness to learn.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare gym equipment and components for powder coating.
- Organise the powder coating line to maximise efficiency.
- Read job sheets and ensure the correct RAL colours are used.
- Clean, prepare and hang metal components ready for coating.
- Carry out powder coating to Watson's exceptionally high standards.
- Perform quality inspections throughout the process.
- Safely manoeuvre and handle a variety of large and heavy components.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
- Assist with other manufacturing duties when required.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who takes pride in producing high-quality work and enjoys working in a busy manufacturing environment.
Ideally, you'll have experience in one or more of the following:
- Powder coating or industrial painting
- Manufacturing or production
- Engineering or fabrication
- Metal preparation and finishing
- Working with hand tools and lifting equipment
The ideal candidate will be:
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling.
- Self-motivated and proactive.
- Able to work efficiently to production deadlines.
- Forward-thinking with a positive attitude.
- Reliable, punctual and dependable.
- Committed to maintaining excellent quality standards.
- Interested in strength training or fitness (desirable but not essential).

Additional Information
- The role involves regular lifting of components weighing up to 30kg.
- Previous powder coating experience is highly advantageous but not essential.
- Full training will be provided for the right candidate.

Working Hours
Day Shift
Monday to Thursday: 5:45am – 2:15pm (60-minute break)
40 paid hours per week.
