We are looking for an experienced Indian Curry Chef to join our team at our newly refurbished restaurant in North West London.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about Indian cuisine, takes pride in the quality and presentation of their food, and is confident working in a busy commercial kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a range of contemporary and modern Indian dishes to a consistently high standard
- Prepare authentic Indian curries, sauces and gravies, including maintaining consistency in flavour, portion and presentation
- Prepare and cook tandoori dishes and other items from the grill/tandoor section
- Prepare biryani, wraps, chaats, starters and other Indian dishes
- Carry out daily food preparation, including marinades, sauces, ingredients and mise en place
- Ensure dishes are properly garnished, portioned and presented before service
- Monitor food stock levels and communicate ordering requirements to management
- Rotate and store ingredients correctly, following FIFO and food safety procedures
- Minimise food waste and help maintain portion and cost controls
- Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen and workstation
- Follow all food hygiene, allergen, health & safety and HACCP procedures
- Work closely with other kitchen and front-of-house colleagues to ensure an efficient service
- Support the kitchen team during busy service periods and maintain consistent standards under pressure
Skills & Experience
The successful candidate should have:
- Previous experience as an Indian Curry Chef or similar Indian cuisine chef
- Strong knowledge of Indian spices, curry bases, sauces and cooking techniques
- Experience preparing a variety of Indian curry dishes from fresh ingredients
- Tandoor experience is desirable
- Good knowledge of food hygiene and safe food handling
- Experience with stock control, food preparation and kitchen organisation
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Strong attention to quality, consistency and presentation
- A professional, reliable and organised approach to work
