Rhymes with Purple, a Glasgow and Edinburgh-based theatre company, is looking for energetic and reliable Street Promoters / Flyerers to join our team for this year's Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
About the Role
As one of our Street Promoters, you'll be the public face of Rhymes with Purple, engaging with festival visitors and locals, distributing flyers, and encouraging audiences to experience our exciting programme of performances.
You'll work alongside a supportive team to maximise audiences across our Fringe productions, adapting to the ever-changing pace of the festival. The role involves working across multiple venues throughout Edinburgh, responding to changing promotional priorities and helping to ensure our shows reach the widest possible audience.

You'll have the opportunity to watch all of the Rhymes with Purple productions at this year's Fringe, giving you first-hand knowledge of the shows and enabling you to confidently recommend them to audiences interested in:
- Theatre
- Musical Theatre
- Physical comedy
- Live art
- Contemporary performance

Essential Requirements
We're looking for people who:
- Have previous experience in street promotion or can demonstrate relevant transferable skills from customer service, hospitality, retail, sales, or other public-facing roles.
- Are confident in approaching and engaging members of the public.
- Work well as part of a team in a busy, fast-paced environment.
- Are flexible with working hours, as promotional priorities and schedules can change at short notice depending on ticket sales, audience demand, and festival activity.
- Are reliable, punctual, self-motivated, and enthusiastic.
- Can commit to working flexible hours between the 5th August and the 31st August.
- Are either based in Edinburgh or have secured accommodation within the city for the duration of the Edinburgh Fringe. As the role requires working across multiple venues, including early starts, late finishes, and schedule changes at short notice, applicants must be able to travel reliably within Edinburgh throughout their engagement.
Desirable Skills & Experience
It would be advantageous if you have:
- A genuine interest in and passion for theatre, live performance, and the wider arts.
- Experience of, or a background in, the creative industries.
- An awareness of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and its major venue operators, including Gilded Balloon, Pleasance, Underbelly, Assembly, Summerhall, and other Fringe venues.
- Good knowledge of Edinburgh's city centre and Festival geography, as working across multiple locations will be an integral part of the role.
- Confidence representing an independent theatre company in a professional, enthusiastic, and engaging manner.
Pay
This role is offered on a self-employed basis.
- £16.50 per hour
- The same hourly rate applies regardless of age.
- Opportunities for additional hours may become available throughout the Festival.
- You must be able to prove that you are legally entitled to work in the UK.
