Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable 2nd Fix Carpenter to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for completing the second stage of carpentry work on various building projects in Cambridge, ensuring high standards of craftsmanship and safety. This role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced carpenters to contribute to high-quality construction projects, working in a dynamic and professional environment.
there is a mixture of price and daywork, however there will always be a requirement for daywork
we have a few sites in cambridge with a good run of work
successful candidate will be working as part of a team and will be directed by working supervisors
Duties
- Installing internal fixtures such as doors, skirting boards, architraves, and kitchen units with precision and care
- Fitting windows, staircases, and other joinery components according to project specifications
- Using hand tools and power tools to cut, shape, and assemble materials accurately
- Fabricating bespoke components on-site as required
- Assisting with roofing tasks where necessary, including fixing battens and sheathing
- Performing heavy lifting of materials and components safely and efficiently
- Collaborating with other trades such as plumbing, electrical, masonry, and roofing teams to ensure seamless project progression
- Maintaining a clean and organised work environment at all times
Requirements
- must have good experience in fitting door sets and ironmongery
- carpenter will be required to follow strict fitting instructions and also follow BM Trada regulations in relation to the installation of door sets
- Proven experience in carpentry, joinery, or related construction roles, particularly in 2nd fix operations
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques
- Strong knowledge of assembly processes and construction techniques including roofing and masonry work
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently throughout the workday
- Experience with plumbing, electrical systems or construction painting is advantageous but not essential
- Good understanding of health and safety regulations on construction sites
- Physical fitness to work on-site for extended periods in various weather conditions
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in carpentry or construction trades are preferred but not mandatory
- must have a CSCS card in skilled worker (blue card)
- must have own 110v tools
- must have own transport
- must be registered for self employment, UTR no
- must have own insurance
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £158.03-£200.00 per day
