Job Summary
Coxheath Vets (Kent) is a well-established independent small animal practice seeking an experienced veterinary surgeon to join our team following the retirement and relocation of valued colleagues.

We are looking for a vet with at least 3 years’ experience who is clinically confident, approachable, and enjoys building strong relationships with both clients and colleagues.
Our busy practice benefits from a varied caseload and excellent facilities, including digital radiography, ultrasound, dental radiography, a spacious prep area, dedicated surgical theatre, separate dog and cat wards, and comfortable office and staff facilities.
The position will consist of approx. 36hrs per week over 4 days with 1 in 4 Saturday mornings. Our weekday opening hours are between 8am - 7pm with no on-call. We believe finding the right team is about more than just an interview. We’d therefore welcome the successful candidate to join us initially on a short locum basis before moving into a permanent role. This gives you the chance to experience our practice, meet the team and ensure the position is the right fit for all.

Duties
- Confident in consultations
- Perform surgical procedures ranging from routine spays and neuters to complex surgeries, ensuring patient safety and optimal outcomes.
- Conduct thorough physical examinations, develop treatment plans, and communicate effectively with pet owners about diagnoses, treatments, and preventive care.
- Maintain accurate medical records, including treatment histories, laboratory results, and follow-up care instructions.
- Assist in laboratory work such as sample collection, analysis, and interpretation to support accurate diagnoses.
- Provide emergency care for animals in critical condition with prompt decision-making and expert intervention.
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians, support staff, and specialists to ensure high-quality patient care and efficient clinic operations.
Requirements
- Proven veterinary experience with a strong foundation in small animal clinical practice
- RCVS registration and veterinary degree
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with pet owners, team members, and external partners.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- A compassionate approach combined with a proactive attitude towards animal health and client service.
