Role: Skilled Operative
Location: Hackworth Industrial Estate, Shildon
Hours: 42.75 hours per week
Salary: Potential earnings from £28,254.33 per annum
We are looking for a motivated and practical Skilled Operative to join our busy Durham site at Hackworth Industrial Estate, Shildon.
This is a varied, hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in working safely and has experience within a fast-paced recycling, vehicle dismantling or similar operational environment. You will support the processing of End-of-Life Vehicles and undertake a range of plant, yard and operational duties.
- Safely depolluting End-of-Life Vehicles, including the removal and storage of vehicle parts
- Removing catalytic converters and supporting vehicle dismantling activities
- Operating plant and equipment, including a 360 grab where trained and authorised
- Carrying out forklift truck and banksman duties where required
- Completing relevant paperwork accurately and in a timely manner
- Carrying out daily checks on plant and equipment, reporting faults and defects promptly
- Working closely with colleagues and other site teams to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently
- Maintaining clean, safe and organised work areas at all times
- Undertaking outdoor manual work, including heavy lifting
- Following all environmental, quality, health and safety procedures
- Previous experience in vehicle dismantling, vehicle mechanics, recycling or a similar hands-on environment
- Experience operating a crane, 360 grab or forklift truck is desirable
- Confidence working with a wide range of vehicle makes and models
- A reliable, hardworking individual with a practical and positive approach
- Comfortable working outdoors in a busy operational environment
- Strong health and safety awareness, with good attention to detail
- The ability to follow instructions and work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- A willingness to undertake further training where required
