Job Overview
We need a Kitchen Assistant to work along side our Chef in the preparation of nutritious meals for our care home residents to enjoy. You will become part of a team who take pride in delivering good, nutritious food in a pleasant and homely environment.
Responsibilities:
- To assist with the preparation of meals and snacks, and ensure tea trolleys are well equipped/stocked and delivered to the correct area of the home.
- To liaise with all staff to ensure that individual residents’ needs are met on a daily basis.
- To maintain a hygienic environment in the kitchen at all times including: Regular cleaning of all areas, as per Cleaning Rota. Keeping a clean and safe kitchen, including ensuring the dishwasher is kept clean, washing up equipment unsuitable for dishwasher, emptying kitchen waste.
- Ensure all food is treated in a hygienic and appropriate way
- Attend all Health & Safety and COSHH training updates as required to ensure safe practices are adhered to at all times.
Summary
As our Kitchen Assistant, you will be an essential part of our team, reporting directly to the Chef. Your primary responsibilities will include food preparation, and ensuring food safety standards are met in accordance with regulations. With your core skills in assisting with meal preparation and kitchen experience, you will assist in the delivery of high-quality dishes that are relevant and appropriate for our residents. Your experience will enhance our kitchen's efficiency and contribute to a positive dining experience.
You will need to undergo a PVG (Disclosure Scotland), and have good basic food hygiene knowledge, COSHH, and exceptional attention to detail
Hours will be discussed at interview, but you will be on a rolling rota, working 3 shifts per week (28.5 hours) . Training will be given and there will be opportunities to progress your career.
