Location: Upper Heyford, Oxfordshire
Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 per annum, depending on experience
Hours: Monday–Friday | 8:00am–5:00pm | 45-hour working week including 1 hour unpaid lunch

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated HGV / Trailer Technician to join our engineering team based at Upper Heyford.
This role is primarily focused on the maintenance, servicing and repair of HGV trailers, making it an excellent opportunity for an experienced trailer technician or mechanic looking to develop their skills within a specialist engineering environment.
Our fleet includes specialist medical trailers and support equipment used to support healthcare services across the UK.
You don't need to have previous experience working on medical trailers, as training and support will be provided on our specialist equipment.
The Role
As an HGV / Trailer Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing our specialist trailer fleet to a high standard, ensuring our equipment remains safe, reliable and operational.
Key responsibilities include:
- Carrying out routine servicing, maintenance and inspections on HGV trailers
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults
- Diagnosing and repairing trailer braking systems
- Working on trailer suspension and steering systems
- Diagnosing and repairing hydraulic systems
- Diagnosing and repairing trailer lighting and electrical systems
- Carrying out MOT preparation and rectification work
- Carrying out preventative maintenance and routine inspections
- Identifying faults and completing repairs efficiently and safely
- Maintaining accurate service and maintenance records
- Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with company and legal requirements
- Keeping the workshop and work areas clean, tidy and organised
- Ensuring all work is carried out to the required health and safety and quality standards
- Shunting trailers within the depot when required
The role is primarily workshop-based at our Upper Heyford depot, with occasional site visits or breakdown support when required.
What We're Looking ForEssential:
- Previous experience working as a Trailer Technician, HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic or in a similar mechanical role
- Experience working on commercial vehicle trailers
- Good mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Experience working with trailer braking, suspension, steering or hydraulic systems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable, hardworking and safety-conscious approach
- Good attention to detail
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to shunt trailers
Desirable:
- HGV / Trailer Technician qualification
- Experience with trailer ABS / EBS systems
- Experience with hydraulic systems
- Experience with MOT preparation and rectification
- HGV C+E licence
- Previous experience working on specialist or medical trailers
Relevant industry experience is more important than formal qualifications, and training will be provided on our specialist medical trailer equipment.
Salary & Overtime
- £35,000 – £40,000 per annum, depending on experience
- Salary review following successful completion of probation
- Overtime opportunities available
