Job Summary
Varna Engineering Services Ltd is looking for an experienced Electrical Project Manager to manage and deliver electrical projects across our retail and commercial client portfolio.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for projects from initial planning and mobilisation through to completion and handover, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and to the required quality standards.
Our projects vary considerably in size and scope and include planned installations, refurbishments, electrical alterations, lighting, power, containment, distribution, fault finding, testing, remedial works and small works packages. The role therefore requires someone who is comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously and taking a hands-on approach when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage electrical projects from pre-start through to completion and handover.
- Review project information, drawings, specifications, quotations and scope of works.
- Plan labour, materials, plant, access equipment and subcontractor requirements.
- Produce and maintain project programmes and coordinate works against agreed timescales.
- Coordinate directly employed electricians, apprentices and subcontractors.
- Liaise with clients, principal contractors, site management, suppliers and other trades.
- Attend pre-start, progress, coordination and client meetings as required.
- Carry out site visits and monitor progress, workmanship and compliance.
- Ensure RAMS, permits, isolations and other required Health & Safety documentation are in place before works commence.
- Ensure electrical works comply with BS 7671, the Electricity at Work Regulations and relevant industry standards.
- Coordinate safe isolation, electrical disconnections and associated certification.
- Ensure electrical inspection, testing and certification is completed correctly and within required timescales.
- Manage project variations, additional works and changes in scope alongside the commercial team.
- Monitor project costs, labour performance and material usage.
- Identify project risks, delays or issues and take appropriate action.
- Ensure snagging and remedial works are completed promptly.
- Ensure SAP reports, testing records, photographs, drawings and other project records are maintained.
- Coordinate project completion packs and ensure all required certification and handover information is provided.
- Maintain strong client relationships and represent Varna professionally at all times.
- Support the continued development of Varna's Health & Safety, quality and operational standards.

Experience & Requirements
The successful candidate should have:
- Previous experience managing electrical installation projects within the commercial, retail or construction sectors.
- Strong technical knowledge of commercial electrical installations.
- Good knowledge of BS 7671 and electrical inspection, testing and certification requirements.
- Experience managing site operatives and subcontractors.
- Strong planning, organisation and communication skills.
- Ability to manage several live projects simultaneously.
- Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications and technical information.
- Good understanding of RAMS, CDM requirements and construction Health & Safety.
- Commercial awareness and experience identifying variations and additional works.
- Good IT and administrative skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel throughout the UK and work away when project requirements dictate.
Relevant electrical qualifications, SMSTS/SSSTS and Testing & Inspection qualifications are required.
Working Arrangements
This is a full-time role based from Varna Engineering Services Ltd's office, with regular travel to client sites throughout the UK.
Normal office hours are Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm, although flexibility will be required to suit project requirements, including site visits, meetings and occasional out-of-hours works.
