Key Skills
The ideal candidate will be an experienced CNC press brake & punch setter & operator, flexible and energetic and willing to take a proactive approach to the punching & folding requirements in a busy engineering environment. Their experience needs to include the proactive maintenance of the machines and the supervision of the operators. The role is hands on and can be physically demanding due to the nature of the product.
This role would suit: A current team leader looking for promotion, an existing supervisor looking for a new challenge, a current production manager looking for a less intense role.
Reports to: Head of Production
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervising the CNC punch, plasma cutter & press brake operator team to meet or exceed company targets for time & quality.
- Programming & operating CNC Press Brakes, punches & plasma cutter accurately to assist in manufacturing works orders.
- Proactive maintenance for the department sheetmetal department and other key areas of the factory.
- Training of junior sheetmetal operatives.
- Supporting other teams in Production and Dispatch if required.
Essential skills and experience:
- At least 3 years experience of operating CNC press brakes, punches & plasma cutters.
- At least 2 years experience in CNC programming for punches, lasers, plasma cutters.
- At least 2 years experience using offline folding programming software or CAD/CAM CAD experience
- Experience of creating and implementing maintenance schedules and relevant supporting check sheets and documentation
- Experience working with external contractors for maintenance and repairs
- Experience of managing a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Hands on experience of maintaining and troubleshooting equipment
- A Counterbalance Forklift License
- Be computer literate with a good grasp of MS Office and experience of using MRP
- Able to work to deadlines
- Pro-active approach to work
