GMP Recruitment is partnering with one of Oxford's most prestigious colleges, renowned for its historic setting, exceptional hospitality standards, and commitment to staff development.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Chef de Partie to join a busy and professional kitchen team delivering high-quality catering for students, staff, Fellows, conference guests, and special events.
The kitchen serves approximately 200 covers for lunch and 200 covers for dinner daily, alongside formal dining, buffets, conferences, and special functions.
The Role
You will be responsible for the preparation, production, and presentation of high-quality food across various kitchen sections, ensuring meals are delivered efficiently and to the highest standards.
Working closely with the Head Chef and senior kitchen team, you will contribute to all aspects of food production while maintaining excellent food safety, hygiene, and allergen management standards.
This is a full-time permanent position working 40 hours per week, on a rota basis across 5 days from 7, including evenings and weekends.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and present high-quality meat, fish, vegetarian, dessert, and buffet dishes.
- Run designated kitchen sections as directed by the Head Chef.
- Ensure all food is produced and presented to a consistently high standard.
- Check the quality of goods received and monitor stock rotation.
- Maintain accurate food labelling and HACCP compliance.
- Monitor food storage, cooking, and cooling temperatures.
- Ensure all food hygiene, health & safety, and allergen procedures are followed.
- Support and mentor junior kitchen team members.
- Assist with stock control, kitchen organisation, and daily operations.
- Occasionally take responsibility for the kitchen as Duty Chef when required.
About You
- Relevant professional qualification such as NVQ Level 2, City & Guilds 706/1 or 706/2, or equivalent professional experience.
- Food Safety qualification (Level 2 or equivalent desirable).
- Experience working across multiple sections within a busy professional kitchen.
- Strong skills in larder, pastry, and sauce preparation.
- Ability to prepare a wide variety of dishes, including vegetarian options.
- Good understanding of HACCP, food safety, and allergen management.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Able to work independently and use initiative when required.
- Flexible approach to working evenings, weekends, and varying shift patterns.
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop professionally.
