The Property, Space & Strategy team within Estates Development plays a vital role in ensuring our campuses remain efficient, sustainable and fit for the future.
The Space Team is responsible for managing spatial information, campus mapping, space records and estate data that support operational delivery, compliance and strategic decision-making across one of the UK’s most complex university estates. As we continue our digital transformation journey and develop innovative approaches to estate management, we are looking for talented individuals who can help us maintain high-quality information and deliver excellent service to our stakeholders.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Space & CAD Technician to join our Space Team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate space records, CAD drawings, campus maps and spatial information across the UCL estate.
Working closely with colleagues across Estates, Faculties and project teams, you will undertake building surveys, update and maintain AutoCAD drawings, manage graphical and non-graphical data within our Integrated Workplace Management System (Planon), and support a wide range of space planning and operational activities.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong CAD and spatial data management skills who enjoys combining technical expertise with stakeholder engagement. You will play a key role in ensuring physical changes across the estate are accurately reflected within our systems, supporting everything from refurbishment projects and moves to strategic space planning initiatives.
You will have experience producing and maintaining CAD drawings using AutoCAD and be confident carrying out measured building surveys, site inspections and space audits. You will possess strong analytical skills and have experience managing and validating property, space or asset information within a CAFM, IWMS or similar environment.
Highly organised and detail-focused, you will be comfortable working with large datasets, maintaining data accuracy and resolving information discrepancies. You will also have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, enabling you to work effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
Most importantly, you will be collaborative, adaptable and committed to continuous improvement, with a genuine interest in supporting the effective management of a complex and evolving estate.
