Purpose of the post:
The purpose of the Casual Coach is to deliver safe, inclusive and high-quality rugby league coaching that supports Club Doncaster’s community and player-development programmes.
The post holder will contribute to pre-game activities, help deliver the Club’s rugby programme in primary schools, and support the Dons Progressive Pathway for girls and boys aged 12–16.
The role will also assist with the introduction and delivery of new initiatives, including Physical Disability Rugby League (PDRL), Learning Disability Rugby League (LDRL) and women’s teams, as these programmes develop.
The coach will hold a Level 2 coaching qualification, preferably in rugby league, and will represent Club Doncaster’s values while creating positive, engaging and development-focused experiences for all participants.
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver safe, inclusive and engaging rugby league coaching sessions and activities, in line with agreed session plans, Club standards and the needs of participants.
- Support the delivery of pre-game and match-day activities, helping to create positive and memorable experiences for participants, families and supporters.
- Help deliver the Club’s rugby programme in primary schools, preparing sessions effectively and promoting enjoyment, confidence, teamwork and positive behaviour.
- Assist with the delivery of the Dons Progressive Pathway for girls and boys aged 12–16, supporting player development and an enjoyable transition through the pathway.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of new and evolving programmes, including Physical Disability Rugby League (PDRL), Learning Disability Rugby League (LDRL), and women’s and girls’ teams, as they are introduced; and support other programmes developed to meet the needs of the Club and its communities.
- Adapt coaching activities to meet differing ages, abilities and needs, ensuring that every participant is treated fairly, respectfully and inclusively.
- Create and maintain positive working relationships with participants, parents and carers, schools, partner organisations and Club colleagues.
- Follow all safeguarding, health and safety, welfare and equality policies; complete appropriate risk assessments; and report accidents, injuries, incidents and safeguarding concerns promptly through the correct procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, delivery, incidents and feedback, and provide information to the line manager as required.
- Maintain the relevant coaching qualifications, professional standards and continuing professional development required for the role.
