Yard Team Leader – Full Time
Stermat Hardware is looking for a hardworking and reliable Yard Team Leader to join our busy team.
This is a practical, hands-on role working within a busy hardware store. The successful candidate will lead by example whilst supporting the day-to-day operation of the yard and store and providing excellent customer service.
Hours of Work
Working over 7 days on a weekend-on/weekend-off rota basis. Typical working hours are 8.50am to 5.30pm.
Duties Include
- Supervising and supporting the yard team.
- Loading and unloading vans manually and with a forklift.
- Receiving and checking deliveries into the store.
- Picking and preparing orders.
- Operating a forklift truck.
- Driving company vans when required.
- Assisting trade and retail customers.
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment.
- Adhering to company policies and procedures, particularly those relating to Health & Safety.
- Carrying out any other related duties as required.
Physical Requirements
This is a physically demanding role involving regular lifting, carrying, loading and moving of stock throughout the working day. Applicants must be comfortable undertaking manual handling duties and spending most of their working day on their feet.
Requirements
- Full UK driving licence essential.
- Minor driving convictions will be considered.
- Previous supervisory, yard, warehouse or builders' merchant experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Forklift experience would be beneficial; however, full training will be provided for the right candidate.
- A positive attitude, good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
Training will be provided for all other aspects of the role.
Pay: From £14.50 per hour
