Senior Team Leader – Learning Disabilities & Autism

Salary: £37,000 per year
Full-time | Permanent | 39 hours per week
Location: Staines/ Hithermoor House
Hithermoor House is an Outstandingrated specialist residential service supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs.
We are looking for two experienced Senior Team Leaders to join our established team.
This is a hands on leadership role for someone who enjoys being part of the care team while also taking responsibility for maintaining high standards across the service.
You will work closely with and receive direct support from the Registered Manager/Provider.
What you will be responsible for
- Leading and coordinating shifts
- Supporting and supervising care staff
- Staff allocation and delegation
- Ensuring residents receive safe, person-centred care
- Safeguarding and duty of care
- Mental Capacity Act and DoLS
- Medication oversight and medication checks
- Care-plan reviews and updates
- Risk-assessment reviews
- Positive Behaviour Support
- Incident management and follow-up
- Documentation and record-quality checks
- Supporting staff competency and development
- Quality assurance and audits
- Communicating with families and external professionals
Protected Leadership Time
Senior Team Leaders will have protected time within their working day to complete leadership and governance responsibilities properly.
This may include:
- Updating care plans
- Reviewing risk assessments
- Reviewing PBS plans
- Completing audits
- Checking documentation
- Reviewing incidents
- Preparing for professional meetings
- Staff competency work
- Quality monitoring
We recognise that senior responsibilities require dedicated time and should not simply be fitted around direct-care duties.
Essential Requirements
You must have:
- Level 5 Health & Social Care / Leadership and Management for Adult Care or equivalent – minimum requirement
- Previous experience as a Team Leader, Senior Support Worker, Deputy Manager or similar
- Strong experience supporting adults with learning disabilities and/or autism
- Experience of complex care
- Good safeguarding knowledge
- Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and DoLS
- Medication experience
- Experience leading staff
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence managing incidents and making decisions
We are particularly interested in candidates who have actually led shifts and taken responsibility, rather than simply held a senior job title.
