Job Title: Carers Activity and Engagement Co-ordinator
Location: Remote across Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan
Hours: Part-time – 18 hours per week

Salary: £27,300 FTE (£14,040 actual)

Responsible for: The planning, delivery, and evaluation of activities and engagement opportunities for unpaid parent carers across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.
About Cardiff and the Vale Parents’ Federation
Cardiff and the Vale Parents’ Federation is a long-established charity supporting unpaid carers and families of people with learning disabilities across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.
We work to ensure unpaid carers are informed, supported, connected, and able to have their voices heard. We work closely with statutory services, schools, third-sector organisations, and community partners to improve opportunities and outcomes for carers and families.
Purpose of the Role
Developing, coordinating and delivering a varied programme of activities, events and engagement opportunities for unpaid parent carers across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.
Creating welcoming, inclusive opportunities that reduce social isolation, improve wellbeing, strengthen community connections and raise awareness of unpaid carers and their experiences.
Working with carers, schools, community organisations, volunteers and local partners to encourage participation, identify emerging needs and promote access to appropriate services, information and support.
Planning, coordinating, delivering and reviewing activities and events, ensuring they are safe, accessible and responsive to carers' needs. Gathering participant feedback and using this to improve the quality, relevance and impact of activities and engagement opportunities.
Maintaining accurate records and contributing to monitoring, evaluation and reporting requirements, including attendance data, outcomes, KPIs, case studies and evidence of impact in line with organisational and funding requirements.
Supporting the recruitment, engagement and involvement of volunteers within activities and events, helping to strengthen community participation and peer support opportunities for unpaid carers.
This is a people-focused role suited to someone who is friendly, approachable, organised and passionate about community engagement, with the ability to balance direct delivery work with effective planning, monitoring and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver a programme of inclusive activities, wellbeing sessions, information workshops and engagement opportunities for unpaid carers supporting someone with a learning disability.
- Create welcoming, supportive, and accessible environments where carers feel valued, included, and able to build positive connections with others.
- Work with schools, colleges, and community settings to support the identification and engagement of unpaid carers and provide regular outreach opportunities.
- Support the promotion activities and services through social media, newsletters, online platforms, and community networks alongside colleagues and partners.
- Gather feedback and outcome information to evaluate activities, demonstrate impact, and support reporting requirements for funders and commissioners.
- Maintain accurate records, risk assessments, attendance information, and monitoring data in line with organisational and funding requirements.
- Support the planning and delivery of the annual Understanding Disability Awards Ceremony and other organisation-wide events.
- Represent Cardiff and the Vale Parents’ Federation at outreach events, partnership meetings, and community engagement opportunities.
- Support the identification, encouragement, and involvement of volunteers to assist with activities, events, and community engagement opportunities.
- Provide support and guidance to volunteers involved in activities and events, helping to create a positive and welcoming experience for all participants
- Undertake any training required to support the role, including safeguarding and health and safety training.
- Work flexibly across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan and occasionally across a wider area. Access to a vehicle for work purposes is essential.
- Undertake an enhanced DBS check in line with safeguarding requirements
- Any other activities as instructed by the Development Director concomitant with the role and responsibility level.

Experience within community work, wellbeing services, social care, education, or the third sector would be beneficial. Access to a vehicle for work purposes or ability to travel independently with equipment is essential.
