Would you like to play an important role in Chichester’s award winning Novium Museum and Tourist Information Centre?
We are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Visitor Services Assistant to join our dedicated and friendly team, based in the centre of Chichester.
You will provide exceptional customer service to Museum and Tourist Information visitors helping to deliver an excellent visitor experience. You will respond to a range of enquiries and proactively engage with visitors, giving a warm welcome and providing an efficient service. You will also generate income through the shop while ensuring the highest of presentation standards across all Front of House spaces.
You will enjoy interacting with the public and ideally have experience of working in a busy customer facing role as well as knowledge of the tourism industry and retail experience. You will have excellent presentation and be punctual and reliable.
You will oversee retail elements of the museum including the gift shop and the online shop including identifying new products, placing orders and preparing new stock for display. This includes working with suppliers to develop bespoke products for the museum and online shop linked to the museum’s collections and exhibitions.
You will be required to act as Duty Officer in accordance with the Duty Officer rota. This includes leading the emergency response if needed, conducting gallery checks and completing opening and closing up procedures.
You will be required to work flexibly, including weekend, evening and out of hours work as the post supports the delivery of a range of events. The Novium Museum and Tourist Information Centre is open 7 days per week during the summer season.
Winter rota pattern: Tuesday and Saturday for 2 weeks, Tuesday and Wednesday for 2 weeks.
Summer rota pattern: Saturday and Sunday for 2 weeks, Tuesday and Wednesday for 2 weeks
Working pattern can be negotiated but a minimum of 2 weekends is required each month.
It is essential that you are fully computer literate. The Museum is part of the District Council’s intranet, which uses Microsoft Outlook, Word and other programmes.
The District Council has a very active in-house training programme, and training in Health & Safety issues, internal procedures, IT and other matters will be given as required.
