The Role
We are seeking an experienced and adaptable Woodworking Machinery Operator to join our production team. This is a varied hands-on role for someone with a strong background in woodworking machinery who is comfortable working across multiple areas of the workshop.
The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining a range of woodworking machinery while supporting production across different manufacturing processes to ensure projects are completed efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate a range of woodworking machinery safely and efficiently.
- Operate edge banders, spindle moulders, planers, thicknessers, panel saws, and other conventional woodworking machinery.
- Carry out machine set-ups and adjustments for varying production requirements.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, cutting lists, and job specifications.
- Produce high-quality components to precise dimensions and tolerances.
- Perform routine machine checks and basic maintenance to ensure safe operation.
- Monitor product quality throughout the manufacturing process.
- Support colleagues across different workshop departments when required.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping standards and comply with all Health & Safety procedures.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and efficient production workflows.
Requirements
- Previous experience operating woodworking machinery within a joinery or furniture manufacturing environment.
- Experience using edge banders and traditional woodworking machinery, including spindle moulders, planers, and thicknessers.
- Strong understanding of woodworking materials and machining processes.
- Ability to read technical drawings and production documentation.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible approach and willingness to work across multiple production areas.
