We are seeking a friendly and efficient female Cafe Assistant to join our vibrant team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering excellent customer service, preparing and serving food and beverages, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. This role offers an opportunity to develop skills in food safety, barista techniques, and food presentation while working in a dynamic café setting. Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided. The Cafe Assistant will play a vital part in ensuring our customers enjoy a positive experience from their visit.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and specialised drinks, adhering to quality standards.
- Assist with food preparation tasks such as assembling sandwiches, salads, or snacks in line with health and safety guidelines.
- Serve customers efficiently at the counter or table, providing friendly and attentive service.
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas, including counters, equipment, and dining spaces, following food safety regulations.
- Handle cash transactions accurately using the till system and manage basic maths calculations for change.
- Manage time effectively to ensure prompt service during busy periods.
- Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth operation throughout shifts.
- Follow all health and safety procedures related to food handling and hygiene standards.
Requirements
- Knowledge of food safety standards is essential; previous experience as a barista or in serving roles is desirable.
- Ability to perform food preparation tasks with attention to detail and cleanliness.
- Good organisational skills with effective time management to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Basic maths skills for cash handling and transaction processing.
- Excellent communication skills with a friendly demeanour towards customers.
- Ability to work well within a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work during peak hours, including weekends if required; previous experience in similar settings is advantageous but not mandatory.
