The Performing Arts Assistant will support the delivery of inclusive, engaging and person-centred performing arts day provision for adults with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
We are currently looking for an assistant to join our Monday and Friday provision 9.30-2.30pm.
Working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, candidate will help participants develop confidence, communication, creativity, independence and social skills through drama, music, movement, dance, performance and other creative activities.
The role is focused on enabling every participant to take part in ways that reflect their individual abilities, interests, communication styles and aspirations. The successful candidate will contribute to a safe, welcoming and stimulating environment where everyone is encouraged to express themselves and celebrate their achievements.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with planning, preparing and delivering accessible performing arts sessions for adults with a wide range of abilities and support needs.
- Support activities including drama, music, singing, dance, movement, improvisation, storytelling and performance as well as accessing the community on local trips/ days out.
- Support participants to develop confidence, teamwork, communication and performance skills.
- Assist with rehearsals, performances, showcases and community-based creative projects.
- Be aware of sensory, emotional, behavioural and physical support needs and respond in accordance with individual support plans.
- Work sensitively with participants who may experience anxiety, communication difficulties or challenges in unfamiliar environment.
- Work collaboratively with performing arts staff, support workers, tutors, volunteers, families and other professionals.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues regarding participants' progress, achievements, needs and any concerns.
- Attend team meetings, training and supervision as required.

Pay: £12.71-£15.00 per hour
