Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Full Time Gardener / Arborist to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for horticulture and landscape maintenance, with the ability to deliver high-quality gardening services. This role offers an opportunity to work outdoors in a dynamic environment, contributing to the health and beauty of various green spaces. The successful applicant will be responsible for maintaining gardens, trees, and landscapes, ensuring they remain vibrant and well-kept. You will be working with instructions from our Head Gardener.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and care for gardens, lawns, trees, and shrubs using hand tools and power tools.
- Prune, trim, and shape trees and plants to promote healthy growth and aesthetic appeal.
- Assist with planting new flora, including flowers, shrubs, and trees, ensuring proper soil preparation and planting techniques.
- Operate irrigation systems efficiently to ensure optimal watering schedules.
- Perform landscape maintenance tasks such as fertilising, mulching, aerating, and weed control.
- Conduct routine inspections of plant health and identify any pests or diseases requiring treatment.
- Use specialised horticultural equipment safely and effectively during daily operations.
- Ensure all work areas are kept clean, organised, and safe at all times.
- Help maintain our large garden pond.
Skills
- Proficiency in using hand tools such as secateurs, spades, rakes, and hoes.
- Experience with irrigation systems installation and maintenance.
- Experience / qualification in using a chainsaw and climbing equipment.
- Ability to operate power tools including chainsaws, hedge trimmers, and leaf blowers safely.
- Growing experience with various plants, trees, and flowers within horticultural practices.
- Strong knowledge of gardening techniques and landscape maintenance principles.
- Understanding of horticulture principles to support plant health optimisation.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions while maintaining high standards of safety.
- Good organisational skills with an eye for detail to ensure precise work execution.
- Full driver's license will be useful.
