Turn Your Creativity Into a Career That Makes a Difference
Are you a graduate with a passion for gaming, art, design or creative technology who also wants to make a genuine difference to young people's lives?
We're looking for an enthusiastic and creative Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an innovative education setting in Derby that takes a very different approach to learning.
The provision supports young people who have struggled within mainstream education, helping them re-engage with learning through their interests, creativity and individual strengths.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who understands that not every young person learns in the same way.
Why Gaming & Creativity?
The setting uses gaming, digital creativity, art and design as a way of engaging students who may have become disengaged from traditional education.
You don't need to be a qualified teacher. We're looking for someone who can bring their creativity, enthusiasm and personality into the classroom while developing positive relationships with young people.
What You'll Be Doing
- Supporting young people with their learning and personal development.
- Using gaming, art, design and creativity to encourage engagement.
- Building positive relationships with students who may have struggled in mainstream settings.
- Providing one-to-one and small-group support.
- Helping students develop confidence, communication and independence.
- Supporting young people with SEND, behavioural needs and emotional or social difficulties.
- Encouraging students to recognise their strengths and interests.
- Working alongside experienced education professionals.
- Helping create a calm, positive and inclusive environment.

This role could be perfect for a graduate with a background/Degree in:
- Games Design

- Is patient, empathetic and approachable.
- Can build relationships with young people who may be difficult to engage.
- Is creative and willing to think differently.
- Can remain calm and positive when faced with challenging behaviour.
- Wants to use their own interests to inspire young people.
- Is considering a future career in education, SEND, youth work, psychology or a related field.
This Could Be Your Opportunity
This isn't your typical Graduate Teaching Assistant role.
You'll be working in an environment where gaming and creativity are used as a gateway back into education, helping young people who may have previously felt that mainstream education wasn't right for them.
You'll gain valuable experience supporting students with SEND, behavioural needs and disengagement, while developing your own skills within a genuinely innovative educational setting.
If you're a creative graduate who loves gaming, art or design and wants to use those interests to help young people succeed, we'd love to hear from you.
