Workshop Delivery Manager
We are a growing vehicle restoration business based in Redditch, Worcestershire specialising in Range Rovers built between 1969 and 1996.
As a result of sustained growth, we have the need for an individual to oversee the increasing number of technicians engaged in mechanical/electrical work and bodywork on our diverse range of projects. These projects range from routine servicing and preventative maintenance to full body-off rebuilds on both traditional restorations to replicate vehicles as delivered from the factory and bespoke builds encompassing engine upgrades and enhanced braking and handling packs.
The role is to supervise the delivery of around a dozen or so active projects with a workforce, presently nine and anticipated to grow.
Our organisation presently has a technical lead for mechanical/electrical work who oversees several technicians, and a Bodyshop Supervisor with preppers/painters under their supervision. This new role is to manage both senior staff, reporting to the business leader who is responsible for overall business control, securing projects, workload planning and customer management/liaison amongst other duties. Our projects are managed through a digital environment so the successful candidate will need to be comfortable with working in such an environment which necessitates project updates and amplification as projects grow in scope.
Essential experience for the role includes previous experience in:
· A supervisory role in vehicle workshops,
· Familiarity with digital environments,
· Ad hoc customer interfacing/updating,
· Managing tight deadlines, and
· Motivating and managing multiple tasks and personnel
Preferable experience includes;
· Working with senior staff,
· Mentoring apprentices,
· Managing priorities, and
· Forward planning for delivery
The role requires an individual that has a high level of attention to detail, good timekeeping, ability to work in a team, and organisational skills in planning, inspection and working within agreed budgets and timescales.
ROLE DESCRIPTION & KEY TASKS
Workshop Tasks:
· Managing engineering and adaptions for customer vehicle work and conversions
· Assistance in bespoke engineering solutions and restoration of vehicles
· Maintaining a clean and tidy work environment
· Following safe working practices, diversity, and equal opportunity practices
· Carrying out checks on customer vehicles on arrival and on departure, where required
· Carrying out quality control checks on vehicles prior to their release to customers
Workshop Delivery Manager Tasks:
· Assisting the Business Manager with preparation of pre-work estimates and resultant work plans
· Taking ownership of agreed work plans through to completions, including scope and time management
· Expansion/re-definition/revision of pre-work estimates on receipt of vehicle in workshop
· Drafting of schedules and programmes for projects
· Identification of resource needs across the business
· Monitoring effectiveness of resources at business, unit and individual levels
· Management of cross-working between Workshop and Bodyshop units
· Ongoing review of progress, financial performance, and quality of projects; working practices and behaviours. Identification of improvements or corrective actions
· Monitoring adherence to work plans and adherence to/accuracy of estimates
· Assist with/undertake pre-delivery inspections and assess completion against work plans
· Oversee timely ordering of parts and links to project costs and estimates
· Reviewing timesheets and assessing against estimates. Understanding variance and taking corrective action as necessary
· Monitoring timekeeping and application of others
· Understanding the impact of individuals’ performance, costs and non-revenue projects on unit and business out-turn
· Liaising with the Business Manager to ensure optimal project delivery
Salary will be commensurate with experience.
Pay: £45,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
