About the Role
Cascade Water Services Ltd is looking for an experienced Water Connections Ganger / All-Round Water Operative to join our growing connections team.
You will work as part of a two-man team, taking responsibility for completing our own water connection works from excavation through to completion.
The majority of the role will involve new mains and service connection works, although you will also occasionally support the wider business with supply pipe replacements, leak repairs and general water infrastructure works.
We are looking for somebody who is experienced, reliable and capable of taking ownership of jobs on site without needing constant supervision.
An immediate start is available for the right person.
Typical Duties
Your work will include:
- New water service connections
- Water main and service connection works
- Excavation and safe digging around existing utilities
- Operating mini excavators
- Installing MDPE/ barrier water pipework
- Supply pipe replacements
- Leak repairs
- Working within highways and footways
- Reading utility plans and identifying existing services
- Working to RAMS and site-specific requirements
- Ensuring works meet water industry and WIRS standards
- Liaising with customers, site managers and the Cascade office team
- Taking responsibility for the quality and safe completion of your works
You will normally work alongside another experienced operative as a dedicated two-man team.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
Applicants must have:
- Previous experience working within the water industry
- Proven experience completing water connection or water network works
- NRSWA / Streetworks qualification
- EUSR National Water Hygiene Card
- EUSR SHEA Water
- Valid excavator / digger ticket
- Good understanding of underground utilities and safe excavation
- Ability to work confidently as part of a two-man team
- Good attitude towards health, safety and workmanship
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable Qualifications
The following would be particularly beneficial:
- NCO Level 2 – Water Mains & Services
- WIRS / Self-Lay Provider experience
- Experience working directly on water company networks
- Service connection experience
- Leak detection or repair experience
- Additional plant qualifications
- First Aid
