The Role
We are looking for a capable and organised Operations Supervisor to support the coordination and delivery of highway response works across Bristol. This is a varied and important role within our Highways team. It would suit someone with strong street works or highways knowledge who can balance compliance, operational priorities and effective stakeholder communication.
Key Responsibilities

· Monitor work activity to ensure it is properly planned, coordinated and delivered to the required quality standard.
· Attend site meetings and carry out reinstatement and compliance audits.
· Identify non-compliance, record findings clearly and support timely corrective action.
· Maintain accurate records and provide clear updates, reports and supporting information when required.
· Help minimise disruption to road users, residents, businesses and public transport services.
· Support continuous improvement by sharing learning, identifying recurring issues and recommending practical solutions.
About You
You will be confident working in a fast-moving operational environment and able to build effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. You will also be comfortable making informed decisions, challenging non-compliance appropriately and managing several priorities at the same time.
Essential Skills and Experience
· Relevant experience within street works, highways, utilities, civil engineering or a similar compliance-focused environment.
· A good working knowledge of relevant highways or street works legislation, regulations and operating principles.
· Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks.
· Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
· The ability to build constructive working relationships with clients, colleagues and external agencies.
· A practical, solutions-focused approach and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
· A full UK driving licence, as travel to sites and meetings is an essential part of the role.
Desirable
· Experience of carrying out highway reinstatement or compliance audits.
· Familiarity with relevant street works, permitting or works management systems.
· Relevant technical, highways or street works qualifications.
