We are seeking a dedicated Warehouse Operative to join our team. This role involves supporting the efficient operation of our warehouse by operating the production machinery, handling materials, managing stock, and ensuring the smooth movement of goods. Prior warehouse experience, forklift licence and mechanical knowledge are advantageous. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills in stock handling, logistics, and warehouse management within a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload goods using appropriate equipment, including forklifts
- Manage stock levels through accurate stocking, picking, and packing of products.
- Operate production and printing machinery to produce customer orders
- Assist with shipping and receiving processes to ensure timely dispatch and receipt of goods
- Handle materials safely and efficiently, adhering to health and safety regulations
- Maintain organisation within the warehouse, ensuring all areas are clean and hazards are minimised
- Support in maintenance and mechanical troubleshooting of warehouse equipment if required
- Collaborate with team members to optimise workflow and productivity
Skills
- Proven experience in warehousing and operating the machinery
- Ability to operate forklift trucks safely (certification advantageous)
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems
- Strong materials handling skills with the ability to lift heavy loads safely
- Mechanical knowledge is beneficial for equipment maintenance or troubleshooting
- Competence in stock management, shipping & receiving, and load & unload operations
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail in all areas
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to read, write and speak English to high standards
- Liaise with other team members to perform all required tasks with a professional attitude
- Adhere to all company rules, procedures and policies;
- Ability to multitask, prioritise and work effectively under pressure;
- Meet the targets and complete jobs within short deadlines; and
Working Hours
- Monday to Thursday, 8 am to 6 pm
- 36 paid hours per week
- One hour unpaid lunch break
- Full Time, Permanent Role
- Overtime opportunities available
Successful candidates will be working from our premises at Unit 9, Cobblestone Way, Newark East, Newark Road, Fengate, Peterborough PE1 5WJ.
