We are seeking a dedicated Dairy Assistant specialising in milking cows to join our agricultural team. This role involves hands-on animal care, equipment operation, and maintenance tasks essential for the smooth functioning of our dairy farm. Responsibilities
- Milking cows efficiently and hygienically using appropriate equipment and techniques
- Monitoring animal health and behaviour, reporting any concerns to senior staff
- Assisting with general farm upkeep including cleaning, organisation, and equipment checks
Skills
- Basic knowledge of animal care and husbandry practices
- Mechanical aptitude with experience using hand tools, power tools, and conducting equipment repairs
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and effectively
- Competence in basic maths for record keeping and measurements
- Familiarity with irrigation systems and horticultural practices is advantageous
- Good organisational skills for maintaining cleanliness and operational efficiency
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Basic understanding of maintenance procedures related to farm machinery and equipment
