Base Location: You'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in one of the following locations: Perth, Glasgow, Aberdeen or Eurocentral whilst other SSE Renewables locations can be considered.
Salary: £51,600 - £77,400 + car/car allowance if applicable + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role
As a Control Systems Engineer, you'll play a key role in delivering control systems for onshore and offshore renewable energy projects. Working as part of the SSE Renewables Engineering team, you'll lead the design, integration and delivery of control systems from early project development through to commissioning and handover. You'll also help shape the future of our engineering capability by driving innovation and identifying opportunities to improve performance, reduce costs and adopt new technologies.
You will
- Lead the design, development and integration of PLC-based control systems, SCADA platforms and associated communication networks for renewable energy projects.
- Work closely with civil, mechanical and electrical engineering teams to coordinate control system requirements throughout project delivery.
- Develop technical specifications for control systems, support supplier selection, and review supplier designs to ensure they meet technical and quality standards.
- Support commissioning activities by attending Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), ensuring systems are delivered safely and perform as intended.
- Identify and implement innovative control system solutions, technologies and engineering best practices that enhance asset performance and deliver value.
You have
- Experience designing and configuring PLC-based control systems, including hardware, software and database configuration.
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, OPC, ODBC, IEC 60870-5-104 and IEC 61850.
- A good understanding of renewable energy projects or experience delivering control systems within power generation, utilities or other industrial environments.
- An understanding of operational technology (OT) cyber security principles and industry standards, including IEC 62443.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams and external suppliers.
