HGV Class 1 Driver – 3-Month Temporary Contract

Regenthill is an established recycling business based in Andover. We are looking for an experienced HGV Class 1 Driver to join our team on a temporary three-month contract.
The role primarily involves collecting recyclable waste materials from our own customers and returning them to our Andover recycling site. This is Monday-to-Friday work, with routes generally planned as day runs.
Nights away may occasionally be required when delays or operational issues prevent a return to Andover. We would not normally expect more than two nights out in a week. In these circumstances, the final return-to-depot leg may occasionally need to be completed on a Saturday morning.
This is not general haulage or multi-drop parcel work. You will be representing Regenthill directly with our customers and playing an important role in the service we provide.
The role
- Driving a 44-tonne articulated vehicle
- Collecting recyclable materials from customer sites
- Delivering collected materials to our Andover facility
- Working Monday to Friday, primarily completing day runs
- Staying out overnight occasionally when delays prevent a return to base
- Occasionally completing a final return-to-depot leg on a Saturday morning following delays
- Carrying out daily vehicle checks and reporting any defects
- Ensuring loads are safe and secure before travelling
- Completing all required driver and collection paperwork accurately
- Communicating with our office and operations teams throughout the day
- Providing a professional and helpful service when visiting customer sites
- Complying with drivers’ hours, Working Time Directive and road transport regulations
What we are looking for
- A valid HGV Class 1 / Category C+E licence
- Valid Driver CPC and digital tachograph card
- Previous Class 1 driving experience
- A safe and responsible approach to driving
- Good communication skills
- Reliable, organised and able to work independently
- Comfortable dealing directly with customers
- Able to complete occasional nights out and, where delays require it, a final return to Andover on a Saturday morning
- Experience within recycling, waste management, skips, walking-floor or similar operations would be useful, but is not essential
We are a small but busy team, so we are looking for someone who takes responsibility for their vehicle, communicates properly and understands that good service matters just as much as getting the load from A to B.
This is a temporary three-month opportunity to join a growing local business and complete regular work servicing our established customer base.
