About the Role
At Bari Emergency Operations and Technical Solutions, we support operational environments where safety, reliability and preparedness are essential to day-to-day performance.
We are looking for an experienced Health and Safety Manager to join our Bathgate team. You will take ownership of workplace health and safety management, ensuring that operational activities are supported by practical procedures, effective risk controls and a strong culture of prevention.
This role is suited to a safety professional who is comfortable working across operational, engineering, logistics and technical environments and can translate regulatory requirements into clear, workable practices for employees and managers.

Key Responsibilities
Health and Safety Management: Develop, maintain and continuously improve workplace health and safety policies, procedures and management systems.
Risk Assessments: Lead and review risk assessments, ensuring hazards are identified and appropriate controls are implemented.
Incident Investigation: Investigate accidents, near misses and safety concerns, identify root causes and ensure corrective actions are completed.
Compliance: Monitor compliance with applicable UK health and safety legislation and internal standards.
Site Inspections: Conduct regular workplace inspections and audits, documenting findings and following up on required improvements.
Emergency Preparedness: Support emergency-response planning, evacuation procedures, drills and business-continuity arrangements.
Contractor Safety: Ensure contractors and external service providers meet required safety standards before and during work activities.
Training: Develop and coordinate health and safety training, toolbox talks and awareness programmes for employees and managers.
Performance Reporting: Monitor safety KPIs, incident trends, audit findings and corrective actions and prepare reports for management.
Safety Culture: Work with operational leaders to encourage proactive reporting, employee engagement and shared responsibility for safe working practices.
What We Are Looking For
Experience: Ideally 5–8 years of experience in health and safety, preferably within engineering, manufacturing, logistics, facilities, emergency services or another operational environment.
Qualification: NEBOSH General Certificate or an equivalent recognised health and safety qualification.
Legislation: Strong working knowledge of UK health and safety requirements and practical experience applying them in the workplace.
Risk Management: Experience completing and reviewing workplace risk assessments and implementing appropriate controls.
Incident Investigation: Ability to investigate incidents systematically and identify practical preventative actions.
Communication: Confidence working with employees, contractors, managers and senior stakeholders at different levels of an organisation.
Organisation: Ability to manage audits, inspections, documentation, investigations and improvement actions simultaneously.
Practical Approach: Able to balance regulatory requirements with the operational realities of a working environment.
Desirable Requirements
- NEBOSH Diploma or progress toward a higher-level health and safety qualification.
- IOSH membership or progress toward professional membership.
- Experience in manufacturing, engineering, warehousing, logistics or technical operations.
- Knowledge of ISO 45001 occupational health and safety management systems.
- Experience supporting ISO 14001 or environmental-management activities.
- Experience conducting internal safety audits.
- Knowledge of COSHH, PUWER, LOLER and workplace transport requirements.
- Experience with contractor-management systems and permit-to-work procedures.
- Knowledge of fire safety and emergency-response planning.
- Experience developing health and safety training materials.
- Experience working with incident-reporting or EHS management software.
You do not need to meet every desirable requirement. If you have strong health and safety experience and can demonstrate practical improvements in workplace safety, we would be interested in hearing from you.
