Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Commis Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop your culinary expertise within a professional kitchen environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the kitchen operations, assisting with food preparation, and ensuring high standards of food safety and hygiene. Prior experience in a hospitality or restaurant setting is desirable, along with a passion for cooking and team collaboration. Duties
- Assist in preparing a variety of dishes in accordance with menu specifications and quality standards
- Support senior chefs in food production and presentation, ensuring consistency and excellence
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations in compliance with food safety regulations
- Supervise junior team members when required, providing guidance on food preparation and safety procedures
- Contribute to the efficient running of the kitchen by managing multiple tasks during busy service periods
- Ensure all ingredients are stored correctly and stock levels are maintained appropriately
- Follow health and safety protocols diligently, including hygiene standards and safe handling of kitchen equipment
- Participate in menu planning and development alongside the culinary team when needed
Experience
- Previous experience in a professional kitchen, restaurant, or hospitality environment is advantageous
- Demonstrated skills in food preparation, cooking, and food safety practices
- Supervising experience or team management skills are desirable but not essential
- Knowledge of culinary techniques, food production processes, and kitchen equipment operation
- Familiarity with hospitality standards, including serving guests and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
- A genuine passion for culinary arts and continuous learning within the hospitality sector
