Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Shuttering Carpenter to join our construction team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for constructing and installing formwork (shuttering) for concrete structures, ensuring precision and safety throughout the process. Your expertise will help bring architectural visions to life by creating sturdy, accurate molds that shape the foundation of commercial and residential buildings. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects, utilizing your carpentry, mechanical knowledge, and hands-on skills to deliver high-quality results efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret construction blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine formwork requirements.
- Construct, assemble, and install formwork using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and carpentry techniques.
- Ensure formwork is properly aligned, levelled, and securely braced to withstand concrete pour pressures.
- Collaborate with project managers and other trades to coordinate tasks and meet project deadlines.
- Perform heavy lifting of materials such as timber, steel, and form panels safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, inspecting formwork regularly for stability and quality.
- Follow safety protocols diligently, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), especially when working with welding or heavy machinery.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Shuttering Carpenter or in a similar carpentry role within the construction industry.
- Strong mechanical knowledge related to formwork systems, roofing structures, masonry integration, and structural support.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools (hammers, chisels), power tools (drills, saws), welding equipment, and other construction machinery.
- Knowledge of safety standards and procedures relevant to heavy lifting, roofing work, masonry tasks, and commercial driving if applicable.
- Ability to read technical drawings accurately and interpret project specifications effectively.
- Physical stamina for heavy lifting, prolonged standing, climbing ladders or scaffolding, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
