Join our team in a critical role reviewing and analysing digital imagery, video and audio material, including content relating to the exploitation and abuse of children.
We are seeking a dedicated and resilient ICAT Victim ID Coordinator to play a vital role in supporting investigations, safeguarding victims, and enhancing victim identification practices across Avon and Somerset.
This specialist position will involve working closely with investigators, partner agencies, and national networks to identify victims depicted in digital media, support safeguarding interventions, and drive best practice in victim identification.
Key Responsibilities
As a ICAT Victim ID Coordinator, you will:
Liaise with investigating officers to ensure identified victims are offered appropriate follow-up support services, including counselling and other safeguarding interventions.
Act as the Constabulary's subject matter lead for victim identification, promoting effective practices across the organisation and with partner agencies.
Lead the implementation and ongoing development of the ICAT Victim ID Coordinator function within the Avon and Somerset Police, supporting the creation and implementation of relevant policies, procedures, and guidance.
Monitor images submitted to the Child Abuse Image Database (CAID) to ensure compliance with national standards and guidance, confirming that victims and suspects are appropriately identified, referenced, and referred.
Conduct detailed image analysis of suspected first-generation images, working alongside investigating officers to support investigations and develop victim identification strategies.
Provide specialist advice and guidance to officers and other professionals involved in online child exploitation and grooming investigations.
Collaborate with victim identification specialists across the UK to share intelligence, avoid duplication of effort, focus on priority investigations, and promote best practice.
Work closely with partner organisations, including children's social care and safeguarding agencies, providing advice and support to ensure appropriate safeguarding measures are implemented for identified victims.
Develop and maintain Avon and Somerset's victim identification processes, ensuring procedures remain aligned with best practice, technological developments, and national policy.
Attend national training events, specialist forums, and visits to other police forces and relevant agencies to meet mandatory requirements, keep abreast of emerging trends and technologies, and advise on improvements to local processes.
About You
Knowledge of safeguarding issues and the ability to work collaboratively with external agencies and internal stakeholders.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience producing clear, accurate, and detailed written reports.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
The ability to make sound, reasoned decisions and provide professional advice.
Skills in influencing and negotiating to support operational and safeguarding objectives.
Good computer literacy and confidence using a range of IT systems and applications.
This post requires successful completion and maintenance of Police Management Vetting (MV) in accordance with the National Vetting Policy.
Days are Monday to Friday, hours 0900 - 1700.
