Overview
To monitor and facilitate the purchasing requirements of the Company, ensuring that parts are received when required and that contracts provide the best value possible to the Company.
Driving Strategic activities in line with Cleantech objectives.
Involve and support other Cleantech plants in strategic activities.
Responsibilities
- Understand objectives given at Cleantech level and define a strategy to achieve the proposed targets
- Lead at least one commodity at Cleantech level
- Support members of the purchasing team in relation to strategic activities
- Participate in activities proposed by other commodity buyers
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies to drive cost reduction and improve supply chain efficiency
- Analyze spend data and procurement trends to identify cost-saving opportunities
- Identify and qualify suppliers based on quality, cost, reliability, and sustainability factors
- Conduct market analysis to stay informed about industry trends, pricing, and supplier capabilities
- Lead the selection, evaluation, and onboarding of new suppliers
- Negotiate long-term agreements, pricing, and terms with suppliers to optimize value
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers
- Manage supplier performance, ensuring compliance with contractual agreements and service-level expectations.
- Supplier Audits & visits when required
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, ensuring business continuity
- Develop initiatives to improve procurement processes and reduce waste
- Work with the purchasing team and give support when required to ensure projects/tasks are completed within time constraints
- To cover and support the purchasing team when the Supply Chain Manager is absent, making sure that all day-to-day duties are fulfilled
- To assist the Supply Chain Manager with annual budget preparations giving constructive advice on capital expenditure and training relative to the department
- To oversee the materials requirement plan and ensure that it is analysed and completed in an accurate and timely manner
- To continually review all purchase and supply agreements to ensure cost effectiveness, efficiency and quality is maintained.
- To maintain system data in SAP to ensure accuracy of MRP output.
- To maintain and manage electronic and manual systems with a high level of accuracy.
- To assist the Supply Chain Manager in the maintenance and review of KPI’s.
- To work closely with the accounts staff to obtain appropriate financial information related to procurement and purchasing.
- Work with Materials Manager & with Production to ensure that the material shortages are kept to a minimum by running weekly shortage reports, liaising with production.
- To actively seek to improve processes and engage with / run A3 lean process management projects.
Requirements
· An excellent knowledge of up to date legislation surrounding purchasing compliance
· CIPS qualified with an extensive knowledge of purchasing
· Good leadership ability
· The ability to be flexible and travel as required
· Ability to prioritise and manage workload
· High level of accuracy and attention to detail
· Good negotiation skills
· Excellent communication skills
· Ability to work individually or as part of a team
· Good administrative skills
