Job Summary
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to provide high-quality care to individuals in home care settings. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting patients with diverse needs, including young adults with learning difficulties and elderly individuals within the community. Experience in supporting people with a learning difficulty is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
- Deliver personalised patient care, including assistance with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and mobility support
- Assist with medication administration following prescribed protocols
- Support individuals with a learning difficulty through behaviour management and specialised care techniques
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary requirements
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance wellbeing
- Assist with light household tasks and ensure a safe environment
- Drive or accompany clients to appointments or community outings, or day centres as required
- Maintain accurate records of care provided and report any concerns to supervising staff
- Respond promptly to emergencies by applying first aid procedures when necessary
- Support clients with activities of daily living in their home
Qualifications
- Previous experience in supported living or home care environments preferred
- Knowledge of learning difficulties and behaviour management techniques is advantageous
- Certification in first aid is desirable but not essential; training can be provided
- A valid driving licence is preferred for transportation duties (not essential)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build trusting relationships with clients of all ages
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to support vulnerable individuals
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including days, evenings, or weekends as needed
