Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Taper to join our dynamic construction team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for expertly applying finishing materials to walls, ceilings, and other surfaces to achieve a smooth, polished appearance that meets project specifications. Your expertise will ensure high-quality craftsmanship while adhering to safety standards and project timelines. Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces thoroughly by cleaning, sanding, and applying primer to ensure optimal adhesion of finishing materials.
- Apply plaster, drywall compound, or other finishing products with precision using hand tools and power tools.
- Taper joints and seams seamlessly to create a smooth surface ready for painting or further finishing.
- Use schematics and technical drawings to accurately follow design specifications and ensure proper alignment of surfaces.
- Collaborate with team members including carpenters, masons, electricians, and plumbers to coordinate work efforts effectively.
- Conduct quality inspections throughout the process to identify imperfections and make necessary adjustments promptly.
- Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools, disposing of debris, and adhering to safety protocols at all times.
Experience
- Proven experience in roofing, plastering, masonry, or related construction trades with a focus on surface finishing.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools such as trowels, putty knives, sanders, and measuring devices.
- Familiarity with power tools including drills, saws, and grinders used in surface preparation and application.
- Knowledge of schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings for accurate project execution.
- Experience working with electrical systems or plumbing installations is a plus but not required.
- Ability to read construction plans and follow detailed instructions precisely.
- Strong understanding of safety standards related to construction painting, welding, fabrication, and general site operations.
