Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Production Operator to join our cable assembly team in Rustington, West Sussex.
This role is ideally suited to a skilled operator with hands-on experience in complete cable harness assembly, who can work confidently and competently to IPC 620 standards and consistently deliver high-quality products.
The successful candidate will take pride in workmanship, demonstrate strong quality awareness, and contribute to continuous improvement within the production team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manufacture cable assemblies meeting or exceeding IPC/WHMA-A-620 Class 2 standard
- Perform cable cutting, stripping, crimping, soldering, and termination to a high standard
- Carry out connector assembly, pinning, and housing with precision
- Apply heat shrink, lacing/binding, and potting processes as required
- Set up and operate both manual and semi-automated machinery
- Interpret work instructions, drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs) accurately
- Ensure full traceability of materials and batches is maintained throughout production processes
- Conduct self-inspection of work to ensure compliance before QA handover
- Maintain high standards of a clean and safe working environment
- Identify and report non-conformances, process issues, or material concerns promptly
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the department
Skills & Experience Required
- Minimum of 2 years proven experience in cable assembly or wiring harness manufacture
- Strong working knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards
- Skilled in crimping, soldering, and cable preparation techniques
- Experience with automated or semi-automated production equipment
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documentation
- High level of attention to detail and quality-conscious mindset
- Good manual dexterity and ability to work with small components
- Reliable, organised, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
Working Hours and Benefits
- Full time, permanent position Mon-Thurs 8am to 5pm Fri 8am to 12.30pm
- Competitive salary from £13.35/hour to £14.62/hour (dependent on experience)
