Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Activities Director to join our team at an a residential home. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, organising, and implementing engaging activities that enhance the quality of life for our residents. This role is crucial in fostering a vibrant community atmosphere and ensuring that all residents receive the care and attention they deserve.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive activities programme tailored to the interests and needs of residents, including those with dementia and other cognitive impairments.
- Coordinate and oversee daily activities, ensuring that they are engaging, safe, and accessible for all residents.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to encourage participation in activities and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with care staff to integrate activities into the overall care plan for each resident, ensuring personalised engagement.
- Organise special events, outings, and celebrations that promote social interaction and community involvement.
- Maintain accurate records of participation in activities and assess the effectiveness of programmes regularly.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a similar role within senior care, assisted living, or nursing home settings is preferred but not essential.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to connect with residents of varying abilities and backgrounds.
- A genuine passion for providing care and enhancing the lives of seniors through meaningful activities.
- Knowledge of dementia care practices is highly desirable.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
- Creative thinking skills to develop innovative programmes that cater to diverse interests.
