Overview
We're growing and are looking for enthusiastic and reliable Bank Nursery Practitioners to join our nursery team on a flexible basis.
This position is open to both qualified and unqualified candidates. We are looking for warm, caring and dependable individuals who are passionate about working with young children and can provide flexible support across the nursery when additional cover is required.
Bank staff play an important role in supporting the smooth running of the nursery, working alongside our permanent team to provide a safe, nurturing, stimulating and inclusive environment for all children.
Requirements
- A genuine interest in working with young children
- Previous experience in a nursery, childcare or Early Years setting is desirable but not essential
- Early Years qualifications are welcomed but not required
- Bring a flexible, positive and can-do attitude
- Be warm, caring, patient and confident when supporting children
- Be comfortable working across different areas of the nursery depending on staffing needs
- Communicate confidently, clearly and respectfully with children, colleagues and families
- Build positive and trusting relationships with children and team members
- Follow instructions confidently whilst using initiative where appropriate
- Be punctual, dependable and able to adapt to changing daily requirements
- Work effectively as part of a team
- Have an understanding of safeguarding responsibilities when working with children
- Be open to feedback, training and continuous professional development

Key Responsibilities
- Provide flexible support across the nursery depending on staffing requirements
- Work alongside permanent practitioners to ensure children receive consistent, high-quality care
- Help create and maintain safe, welcoming and stimulating indoor and outdoor environments
- Engage positively with children through play, conversation and age-appropriate activities
- Support planned learning experiences and daily activities
- Supervise children carefully and help maintain their safety and wellbeing at all times
- Support daily routines including mealtimes, sleep times, nappy changing, toileting, outdoor play and transitions
- Encourage children's independence, confidence and positive social interactions
- Build warm and responsive relationships with children, helping them feel safe and secure
- Follow children's individual care routines and relevant nursery procedures
- Help maintain clean, tidy and organised nursery environments
- Follow all nursery policies and procedures, including safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality and behaviour management
- Report any safeguarding or welfare concerns immediately to the appropriate member of the safeguarding team
- Communicate effectively with colleagues to ensure consistency of care
- Work collaboratively and respectfully as part of the wider nursery team
- Complete any required training and remain up to date with nursery procedures and Early Years practice

Pay: £12.71-£13.71 per hour
