Multi-Trader / Reinstatement Technician
Company: Remora Service Group Ltd
Reporting to: Operations Manager
Coverage area: Central London, Greater London and the Home Counties — broadly north to Luton, south to Guildford, east to the London fringe of Essex, and west to Reading
Employment type: Full-time, permanent following a 3-month probationary period
Salary: £32,000 starting, rising to £35,000 on successful completion of probation
About the role
This is a dual role for a capable, well-organised multi-trader who is as comfortable talking a client through a scope of works as they are picking up a trowel.
Around half the work is reinstatement: attending a property, surveying the damage, working out what needs doing, producing a clear scope of works, and then going on to carry out those works yourself. The other half is supporting our large-loss insurance claims — fire and flood jobs — where you'll work as a support technician alongside our restoration technicians on strip-outs and waste removal.
You'll be given a company vehicle after an initial two-week period of on-the-job training working alongside an experienced technician.
What you'll be doing
Reinstatement works
- Attend properties across our coverage area to survey damage and assess what's required
- Produce a clear, accurate scope of works, with photographs and notes
- Carry out the reinstatement works to a high finish
- Communicate with clients, loss adjusters, tenants, managing agents and our internal team — keeping everyone informed and confident in the work
- Flag variations, access issues or unexpected findings promptly rather than after the fact
Large-loss support
- Assist restoration technicians on fire and flood claims
- Carry out strip-outs of damaged materials and fixtures
- Load out and dispose of waste in line with our waste carrier obligations
- Set up, monitor and break down site equipment as directed
- Keep sites clean, safe and presentable
Across both
- Work to a schedule and keep to your appointments
- Complete job reports, photographs and paperwork diligently and on time
- Look after your vehicle, tools and stock
What we're looking for
Essential
- Solid, proven ability in plastering, tiling, and painting and decorating — these are the baseline
- Literate and articulate, with genuinely good communication skills — you'll be the face of the business on site and you'll be writing scopes that others rely on
- The judgement to walk into a damaged property and work out what needs to happen
- Full UK driving licence with 6 points or fewer, and confident experience driving a manual van
- Well located for work across London and our wider coverage area
- Mature, self-managing approach — able to work unsupervised and be trusted with clients' homes
- Willing and able to pass a DBS check
- Reliable with schedules and diligent with reporting
Certification
- CSCS card (blue skilled worker or equivalent) — required for access to a number of our sites
- Asbestos Awareness (Category A) — held, or willing to complete before starting; we fund this and the annual refresher
- Manual Handling — held, or willing to complete before starting; we fund this
Desirable (any of these is a bonus)
- Carpentry, joinery, flooring, basic plumbing or electrics
- Kitchen and bathroom fitting
- Experience in insurance reinstatement or restoration work
- IICRC (WRT / FSRT) or BDMA training — we fund these for the right person
- IPAF or PASMA
Terms and what we offer
- Salary: £32,000 starting
- Progression: review on completion of a 3-month probationary period, rising to £35,000 and confirmation as a permanent employee
- Company vehicle provided after the initial two-week training period, along with fuel card and tools
- Holiday: statutory entitlement (28 days including bank holidays, pro rata)
- Pension: workplace pension via auto-enrolment
- Hours: full-time, with overtime required from time to time to meet claim deadlines and out-of-hours attendances.
- Varied work, no two properties are the same
- Training and progression within an IICRC/BDMA-accredited restoration business, including funded IICRC and BDMA certification
- Career development: for the right candidate, there is real potential to develop into a surveying role. The reinstatement side of this job is deliberately structured to build those skills, if you take to the scoping and client-facing work, we want to grow you into it rather than recruit over you
