Cleaner / Detailed Cleaning Assistant
We are looking for a careful, reliable and detail-focused cleaner to help with the final cleaning and finishing of a newly completed/refurbished house.
This is not simply general domestic cleaning. A major part of the job is carefully removing building and decorating marks without damaging the finished surfaces, so patience and attention to detail are very important.
Main DutiesWood Floors
- Carefully clean engineered wood flooring throughout the house.
- Remove paint spots, decorating marks, dust, adhesive residue and other building-related marks.
- Work carefully around delicate finished surfaces.
- Remove marks individually where necessary rather than aggressively scrubbing the whole floor.
- Use appropriate wood-floor cleaning products and methods.
- Avoid scratching, over-wetting or damaging the finish on the wood.
- Report any deeper scratches or damage that cannot safely be removed by cleaning.
Windows & Glass
- Thoroughly clean windows internally.
- Clean window frames, sills and surrounding areas.
- Remove paint spots, fingerprints, dust and building residue from glass.
- Leave glass clean and streak-free.
- Take particular care when removing dried paint or other marks so that the glass and frames are not scratched.
Handrails, Balustrades & Detailed Areas
- Clean handrails and balustrades thoroughly.
- Clean glass balustrades where required.
- Remove paint, dust, fingerprints and building residue.
- Carefully clean corners, edges, joins and other areas that are often missed during normal cleaning.
General Detailed Cleaning
- Work through the house systematically, room by room.
- Identify and clean small paint and decorating marks.
- Clean skirting boards, window ledges and other finished surfaces where required.
- Carry out final-detail cleaning to help bring the house to a finished, move-in standard.
What We Are Looking For
The most important qualities are:
- Excellent attention to detail
- Patience when dealing with individual marks and stains
- Experience cleaning after building or decorating work would be ideal
- Experience with engineered/finished wood flooring is particularly useful
- Ability to recognise when a stronger cleaning method could damage a surface
- Reliable and able to work independently
- Takes pride in achieving a very high standard of finish
Important: This role requires someone who understands that paint and building marks must be removed carefully rather than simply using stronger chemicals or abrasive tools. Products should always be tested on an inconspicuous area first if there is any risk of damaging the surface.
