Salary: £37,000 plus service charge (tronc) taking total annual renumeration to £39-40,000

Jesmond Dene House are seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Sous Chef to join our kitchen team. This is a key leadership role, working closely with the Executive Chef to lead the kitchen team, maintain standards, and ensure smooth service delivery. You will help lead a busy, full-service kitchen where standards are high, and teamwork is essential.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a high-volume, high-pressure hotel or restaurant kitchen
- Be confident supporting and leading a kitchen team of 12+ people in the absence of the Executive Chef
- Have a strong passion for fresh, high-quality food and seasonal ingredients
- Stay calm under pressure, highly organised and a clear communicator
- Be a natural team motivator with developed leadership skills
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Executive Chef in leading and developing the kitchen team
- Maintain the highest standards of Health & Safety and Food Hygiene at all times
- Oversee daily kitchen operations and ensure consistency across all sections
- Manage stock control, ordering, and waste reduction
- Liaise with suppliers and external partners regarding kitchen operations
- Check all incoming deliveries for quality and consistency
- Assist with menu development, specials planning, costing, GP%, and kitchen reporting
