Want to kick-start your career or change career paths and earn while you learn?
Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council is looking for enthusiastic, motivated individuals to join our apprenticeship programme and help make a real difference in our community.
We know that college or university isn’t for everyone. That’s why an apprenticeship is a great way to gain a qualification, earn a wage, and get hands-on experience—all without the debt that comes with full-time study. Our apprentice salary is competitive
As an apprentice, you will:
✅ Spend one day a week learning with your training provider
✅ Get real work experience that employers value
✅ Build your confidence and skills in a supportive environment
By the end of your apprenticeship, you’ll have at least two years of experience—and we have a fantastic track record of offering permanent jobs to apprentices who want to stay with us!
What’s in it for you?
- You’ll start on £10.00 per hour in your first year.
- In your second year, we’ll move you onto the minimum wage band that matches your age, with the rate for ages 18 and over as the baseline
- 26 days holiday plus bank holidays
- Great pension scheme
- Discounts including gym membership
At Blackburn with Darwen, we believe in treating everyone fairly and creating a workplace where you feel supported. Our values—Trust, Respect, Ambition, Collaboration, and Kindness (TRACK)—are at the heart of everything we do.
Candidates must be able to show genuine interest within the role.
For most apprenticeships a minimum of a Grade 4 in English & Maths is required and if you have not achieved these you may be asked to continue to work towards these qualifications.
