At Totally Local Company an opportunity has arisen for a Hygiene Action Driver/Operative who possess' a professional demeanour, sound judgement and integrity to join our Streetcare team.
This role involves the ability to carry out, at the direction of the HA Supervisor, graffiti removal, land clearance including fly-tipping, clearance of hoarded properties, bulky waste removals, and other hygiene action activities required.
Key Responsibilities
General

You'll carry out the clearance of vacant or occupied premises which can include furniture, clothing and personal belongings or it may be a hoarded property. This is usually at the request of Social Services, SHG or Age Concern.

You'll carry out bulky waste collections from within domestic properties

You'll carry out garden clear ups, and the disposal of arisings to manage accumulative waste situations.

You'll carry out the removal of sharps/needles from both internal and external locations e.g. houses, drains or in open land/greenspace and usually at the request of Social Services, GM Police, Homelessness Team or Neighbourhoods Teams Officers.

You'll carry out the removal of sprayed or painted graffiti and fly posters which involves the handling of hazardous chemicals e.g. paint stripper and caustic soda and the use of a power washer/Jetter.

You'll carry out general land clearance and environmental improvement including the removal of fly tipping, clear up after unauthorised incursions, litter picking and the clearance of overgrown

vegetation and using mechanical or manual methods as required.

You'll carry out industrial cleaning - e.g. paladin bins, war memorials, park play areas, slippery surfaces, Pidgeon fouling, gravestones (jet washer) or manual methods as required.

You'll clean and sanitise balconies & other nesting areas or fouled areas, to manage the quantities of pigeon droppings around the Borough in buildings and on highways.

You'll drive a transit van and tipper vehicle as required and be responsible for complying with maintenance schedules and taking vehicles to TLC depot for servicing & repairs. Also be responsible for hitching & towing of trailers, including the jet washing machine.

You'll ensure the completion of work sheets, take before & after photos of jobs done and ensure contract indemnities are signed as required, using mobile phones & emails to communicate effectively to all parties concerned.

You'll assist in the support and personal development of new starters.

You may be required to work overtime / unsociable hours, depending upon the projects / workload of the Hygiene Action Unit.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Able to work as part of a team

Ability to follow instructions and use initiative to resolve matters, communicating & advising of progress & issues encountered.

Full driving licence

Be available for on call throughout winter service period.

Signing lighting & Guarding (Chapter 8)

Mental stamina to physically and mentally work and deal with unpleasant & emotional working environments.

Be able to risk assess and set up safe areas of working.
