Job Summary
A vacancy has arisen for a full time milking technician to join our team. Milking as one of three in the parlor. The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient and humane milking of livestock, ensuring optimal animal health and productivity. This role requires a strong understanding of animal care, equipment maintenance, and farm operations. The position offers an excellent opportunity to develop specialised skills within the agricultural sector, contributing to sustainable farming practices and high-quality produce. Working hours would be split, 5am-9.30am and 1pm-5.30pm. In this job role you would be required to work every other weekend with one day off during the week. Competitive hourly rate depending on experience.
Successful applicant must be reliable with a strong work ethic, be able to work well as part of a team, good communication skills and commit to maintaining high animal welfare standards.
Duties
- Operate milking equipment safely and efficiently, adhering to health and safety standards.
- Monitor livestock health and behaviour, identifying any signs of illness or distress.
- Maintain cleanliness of milking parlour and equipment, ensuring hygiene standards are met.
Experience
- Previous experience in animal husbandry or dairy farming is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work in physically demanding conditions is required.
