Job Summary
This is a casual role, with hours offered as required, supporting our funeral directors and wider team in providing the highest standards of care, dignity and professionalism to the families we serve.
Duties will include:
- Pallbearing at funeral services
- Supporting funeral directors during funerals
- Bringing deceased persons into our care, including evenings, nights and weekends
- Preparing and driving funeral vehicles
- Assisting with other duties required for the dignified and professional running of our funeral service
Due to the sensitive and responsible nature of this position, applicants must be dependable, discreet, compassionate and immaculately presented, with an understanding of the importance of dignity, respect and confidentiality.
The role is physically demanding and involves manual handling, including the carrying of coffins.
Essential requirements:
- A full, valid UK manual driving licence
- Willingness to undergo an appropriate DBS check
- Ability to work flexibly and at relatively short notice
- Availability for evenings, nights and weekends as part of our on-call provision
- A professional and respectful manner at all times
Previous funeral service experience is not essential, as full training will be provided. We particularly welcome applications from individuals with backgrounds in the Armed Forces, emergency services, care sector or other disciplined and professional environments, although applications are welcomed from anyone who demonstrates the qualities required.
