Machine operator and general farm worker - Full-time | Permanent
We are looking for a motivated and skilled Machinery Operator to join our progressive and expanding farming business. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a 550-ha family farm. Producing high-quality seed cereals, seed potatoes, spring onions, brassicas, pumpkins and vining peas.
The Role
As a Machinery Operator, you will be involved in all aspects of crop production throughout the year, working across our arable and vegetable enterprises. This is a varied, hands-on role operating modern agricultural machinery throughout the farming calendar, contributing to the successful establishment, management and harvest of our crops.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertaking a variety of arable field operations using modern tractors and agricultural machinery.
* Relief drilling and relief spraying during busy seasonal periods.
* Driving potato & cereal harvesting equipment during harvest.
* Trailer work, including transporting grain, potatoes and other produce.
* Operating telehandlers for loading grain lorries, bale stacking and general farm duties.
* Ploughing and other seasonal cultivation work.
* Carrying out daily machinery checks and routine maintenance to keep equipment
* Assisting with general farm operations as required across the business.
Skills & Experience
We're looking for someone who is reliable, motivated and takes pride in their work.
The ideal candidate will have:
* Experience operating modern agricultural machinery.
* A positive attitude with a strong work ethic.
* Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
* The ability to work independently and as part of a supportive team.
* Good mechanical knowledge with the ability to carry out routine machinery maintenance.
* Welding and fabrication experience would be preferred.
* Flexibility to work additional hours during busy seasonal periods.
Qualifications
* Full UK driving licence (essential).
* PA1 and PA2 spraying certificates are desirable, although training can be provided for the right candidate.
* Masted forklift and telehandler qualifications would be advantageous but are not essential.
