As part of our dedication to ensuring we operate safely we are keen to grow our team and are now looking to recruit a Health & Safety Advisor to join our team and support us in the Northern Region of the UK.
What will you be doing?
You will be providing professional advice and assistance in relation to health, safety and welfare compliance as well as facilitating on-going improvements. Assisting managers and supervisors in our operations and delivery teams in complying with the requirements of health and safety law and corporate occupational health and safety requirements.
You will make regular visits to our sites in the North Regions, including Aberdeen, Dundee, Cumbernauld, Gateshead, St Helens, Leeds and Birmingham, where you will carry out health and safety auditing and inspections of our premises (to include office, depot and onsite service delivery operations) and safe systems of work. The role will include plenty of travel with overnight stays to meet business needs.
This is a hybrid role with 3 days on various sites in your area, proximity to commute to St Helens or Gateshead or Birmingham is key. Remaining days to be worked at home.
Other key responsibilities include:

Providing advice and guidance for BMO management on the implementation of legislation and corporate policies relating occupational health and safety.

Proactively assist managers in controlling the day-to-day management of occupational health and safety.

Carry out health and safety auditing and inspections of delivery operatives, plant and machinery and safe systems of work.
- Undertake regular visits to BMO employees on street (maintenance/cleaning/posting) – anticipated 2/3 per week within area.

Follow accident reporting procedures in accordance with RIDDOR and company procedures, including carrying out investigations into work-related accidents, illnesses, dangerous occurrences and near-misses and submitting reports to the Health and Safety Manger
- Assist in the production and implementation of health and safety policies and procedures including the adaptation of corporate policies to suit business requirements.

Participate in Work Place Forums and be responsible for administering relevant Safety Committees, Safety Action Groups and other ad-hoc meetings.

Prepare and present written reports relating to the responsibilities of the post-holder
What skills and experience do I need for this role?

You must hold a NEBOSH National General Certificate with ability to translate legislation and standards into practical and succinct health & safety policies and procedures

NEBOSH Fire - Advantageous

Experience of working within an established risk management system

Proficient in the use of MS Office

The ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues

Able to work under own initiative and to seek advice when necessary

Display the drive and determination to meet targets

Full UK Driving Licence
-
Ability to travel and commit to overnight stays when necessary

A salary of £32,000 - £34,000 per annum
