The Tunnelman supports the safe and efficient operation of the vessel’s self-unloading system, assisting the Head Tunnelman and reporting to the Chief Engineer. This role focuses on the maintenance and operation of non-electrical self-unloading machinery and equipment, including conveyor belts, belt tunnels, rollers, bearings, hydraulic systems, gearboxes, and associated structures. The Tunnelman is expected to prepare belt tunnels for cargo discharge, monitor moving parts during operations, maintain cleanliness and safety in tunnel areas, and follow environmental procedures, ensuring all duties are carried out in accordance with company requirements and safe working practices.
