The Role:
As an Electronics Engineer at TP Matrix, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing a wide range of electronic systems and circuit boards—primarily from the rail sector—down to component level. You'll work in a fast-paced workshop environment and contribute to the delivery of high-quality repairs that support the continued operation of critical rail infrastructure. Experience of hardware fault finding down to component level, often without system schematics is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair faults on electronic PCBs and assemblies down to component level
- Carry out hands-on fault finding using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic probes, etc.
- Evaluate and produce written Condition Assessments of products as they arrive for Test, Repair and Overhaul
- Replace and rework surface mount and through-hole components to IPC-A-610 standard.
- Ensure quality and traceability of repairs according to company and customer standards
- Produce clear and concise engineering reports detailing diagnostics, repairs, and test results
- Work collaboratively with the wider engineering and operations teams
- Follow health and safety procedures in a workshop environment
Desirable Experience & Skills:
- Degree or HND in Electrical / Electronic Engineering (or equivalent)
- Proven experience in component-level fault finding and repair of electronic hardware
- Strong soldering and rework skills (including SMD)
- Ability to interpret circuit diagrams and technical documentation
- Familiarity with industrial or rail electronics (advantageous, but not essential)
- Good written communication skills for producing technical reports
- Self-motivated and able to manage workloads independently
- Attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship
Pay: £40,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
